Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to enjoy Pooneh Nik's work on this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That includes:

• a text description (alt text) for every artwork image;
• full keyboard access, including the image viewer, which opens with Enter, moves with the arrow keys and closes with Escape;
• a "Skip to content" link and clearly marked page sections for screen readers;
• text colours chosen for sufficient contrast, in both light and dark mode;
• layouts that work at any screen size and when text is enlarged;
• reduced animation for visitors who have asked their device for less motion.

We check the site with automated accessibility testing and by hand whenever we make significant changes.

Known limitations

Artwork descriptions are short and give the title and subject of each piece rather than a full visual description. If you would like a more detailed description of any work, please ask and we will be glad to write one.

Some links lead to other websites, such as Instagram and press articles, whose accessibility we cannot control.

Tell us about a problem

If anything on this site is difficult to use, or you need information in another format, please email hello@illupoo.com. Tell us the page and what went wrong, and we will do our best to fix it or get you the information another way. We aim to reply within five working days.
